COLUMBUS - A pair of New Lex wrestlers started the state
tournament on the right foot with victories on Thursday at Ohio State's
Schottenstein Center.
All wrestlers who won a match will wrestle on Friday.
New Lexington led the Division II competitors, as both Panthers opened
with victories. Senior Dimitri Williams (170 pounds) picked up a 15-0
tech fall over Daniel Greiner of Batavia, while junior Justice Freeman
(113) pinned Sandusky's Leondre Cooley, a district champion, in 3:30.
Williams will face David Heath of Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary, and
Freeman wrestles Conor McCrone of Mentor Lake Catholic in the
quarterfinals.
Three other Division II wrestlers lost in openers.
