Attendance

Your child’s regular and on-time attendance at school is crucial to his/her success. Please view school as a priority and see to it that your child attends every day except in cases of illness or emergency. When it is necessary for your child to be absent, you need to send in a note with the reason for the absence. If you know ahead of time that your child will be absent, especially for an extended time, please arrange to have work sent home ahead of time.

Conferences/Grades/Report Cards

We will meet for a parent/teacher conference in the fall. If needed, we may meet again in the Spring. When the time comes, I will send instructions on how to sign up for conferences.

Please note, I do not give a grade to every assignment. Some assignments are intended for practice in the classroom. If a paper is graded, it will have a grade percentage assigned on the top of the paper. I do allow students to correct some tests or graded papers for half credit back for each correct answer. They will need to be responsible and return them back to me if they would like credit for their work. Updated grades can be viewed at anytime on Parent Portal. You can sign up for this on the JCE website.

Interim reports will be sent home halfway through each grading period to update you on your child’s academic progress. Report Cards will be sent at the end of each nine weeks. Both the Interim Report and Report Card should be signed and returned. Be sure to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Take Home/Homework Folder

Every day your child will bring home a “PAW” folder. I cannot stress enough how important the folder will be for all of us! PLEASE check the folder EVERY night for homework, notes, behavior, completed work, newsletters, and other important information. Please keep all completed papers at home and return the folder the following day in your child’s backpack. If you have notes or money to send with your child, I will be looking for them in the folder.

Behavior Chart

We will be implementing a program this year called the PAX Good Behavior Game. The program focuses on the whole child. It builds self-regulation, peer relationships, a nurturing environment in the classroom, positive and consistent expectations throughout the entire school.

Reward Examples for Good Behavior

-Classroom incentives

-Verbal praise

-Special treats

-Stickers

-Free Choice

If your child does have a rough day, I will provide a brief explanation in their communication log or on Remind. Please initial communication log so I am aware you saw your child’s behavior note.

Newsletters

I will be sending home a newsletter weekly that will inform you of important dates and upcoming events. It will also contain information about what we are learning in school. Please leave this in their “PAW” folder until the end of each week.

Homework

Homework is designed to reinforce what we are learning in the classroom. Spelling homework will be sent home on Monday and is due back on Friday.  Math homework will be sent home 2-3 times each week and is due the following day.

Remind

I use the Remind app to communicate upcoming tests or events happening at school. To sign up for reminders, text @aaf72c to 81010.

Birthdays

Birthdays are very special occasions for young children. If you wish, we can have a celebration on their birthday at the end of the day. Just send in treats for the whole class on your child’s birthday. Cookies or cupcakes are usually the easiest.

Box Tops

Please help us collect Box Tops for Education. Download the BoxTops App, look for Junction City Elementary and start scanning your receipts (No more clipping BoxTops!!!) These are used to purchase items such as supplies and playground equipment for our school.

Toys

Please leave all toys at home! If toys or personal items are brought to school, they will be asked to keep them in the backpack. Very often, these items are lost, broken, or played with during class time. We have plenty of playground equipment and board games for inside recess.

Transportation

Please keep me informed about how your child will get home from school. Please send in a note or call the school if this changes. Please be aware, the school requires a 24-hour notice for changes to their normal transportation plans.
