SEO wrestling club finishes top sixteen
SEO wrestling club at Disney

The Southeast Ohio wrestling club participated in the Disney AAU Scholastic national dual team tournament at ESPN Wide World of Sports June 26 through July 1.

The S.E.O. Wrestling club was put together by Coach David Ratliff to advance the sport of wrestling throughout southeast Ohio. The team ncluded New Lexington wrestlers whose goal is to improve over the summer months hoping to gain an edge for the coming season.

In the club’s second season competing at the Disney National Dual tournament they finished in the top 16 losing only three dual matches over the course of the tournament. They lost the last two by a single point. The team finished 6-3 with nine medalist and three reaching All- American status. Receiving copper medals were Tyler Hicks and Austin Syfert; receiving bronze was Tanner Walker; receiving silver and All-American status were Andrew Spicer and Dylan Wright. Other contributing members of the club were T.J. Newsome, Corban West, Dimitri Williams, Sam Allen, Luke Shively, and Bill Thompson.

“This is a great experience for these men to wrestle some tough competition from all over the country, and to watch how much they all improved from this level of competition from day one to the last match was amazing to witness. Coach Ratliff and I are extremely proud of the club and look forward to seeing their hard work pay off this coming season” coach Matt Reed stated.

The S.E.O. Wrestling club would also like to thank the Junction City American Legion, The Ludowici Tile Plant, The Elks, and Enright Trained for their generous contributions that make the trip possible.
