Bowen claim regional title, Heads to State

100 Meter Champ

ATHENS - Kam Bowen set the tone for New Lexington on the track.

The junior swept the 100 meter race, as the Panthwers finished in the 23rd place of 67 teams in the Division II regional with 11 points on Saturday at Athens High School.

Bowen also qualified for next week's state meet at Ohio State's Jesse Owens Stadium.

New Lexington's Kameron Bowen won the 100 (11.24) to become the first Panther to qualify for state since Tyler King in the shot in 2002.

"I didn't feel well Thursday, but I had no doubt coming in I could win," Bowen said. "I woke up, felt good and was ready to run. I'm happy to qualify for state."
