DUNCAN FALLS - There was no quit in New Lexington on Monday.
The
Panthers trailed 4-0 after four innings and 6-3 entering the sixth, but
they rallied for five runs over the final two frames to pull out an 8-7
win in a Muskingum Valley League game at the Philo Athletic Complex.
Chloe
Gilligan broke a 6-6 tie in the seventh with an RBI single, which
followed a double from Emily Robinson. Quincee McCord made it 8-6 with a
double that scored Rainbow Ratliff, as the first six batters in the
inning reached base.
New Lex had a chance to do further damage,
but Electrics pitcher Katie Pride wriggled out of a no-out, bases-loaded
jam without yielding a run to give her team a chance.
The tying
and game-winning runs were stranded on second and third after pop out
ended the game.
New Lex (3-2, 2-2) outhit the hosts 13-7 as
Robinson clubbed three doubles and McCord two. Gilligan and Layona Davis
had two singles.
Bailey Harris went the distance with seven strikeouts to get the win.
