FFA Members Receive Awards at Annual Banquet

On March 16 the New Lexington FFA held their annual awards banquet, with over 400 members and guests attending.

The night began with a silent auction sponsored by the New Lexington FFA Alumni. The 2015-16-officer team opened the banquet in an entertaining way by showcasing some of their talents.

President, Nicole Middaugh, called the banquet to order, while Chaplain, Dakota Brame, presented the invocation. Dinner was served by the National Honor Society and FCCLA. A special thank you to all who helped in preparing the meal. A slide show highlighting events of the past year, prepared by Miranda Kincaid was shown during dinner.

Following dinner, all members were recognized with their degree pins and other awards including state CDE events, scholarship, leadership and alumni awards. After all the awards, Malia Dunn was crowned the 2016-17 New Lexington FFA Queen. The chapter officers then recognized the 2016 Honorary Chapter members Jay Young, Chuck Byers, and Rhonda Snider. Katie Downs was the Outstanding Alumni recipient.

Brooke Wiseman presented the FFA Creed by E.M. Tiffany. Advisors, Heather Foster, John Lindsey, Adam Finck, and Rob Brokaw presented the Star Awards to Outstanding FFA members. Students receiving these awards consist of freshmen, Brooke Wisemen and Clay Weber; Star Freshman, Logan Emmert; Star Greenhand, sophomores Anna Mohler and Jerilyn Kunkler, Star Sophomore.

Junior Dakota Brame, Star Chapter Farmer; Brittney Wiseman, Star Junior; Jordan Middaugh and Justin Garey, Star Ag. Mechanics.

Finally, the seniors who received this award were Austin Hammer, Star Ag. Business; Nicole Middaugh, Outstanding Chapter member and TyAnna Fisher, Star Senior.

The chapter also had some very deserving members who received an FFA jacket. The next items presented were the scholarships consisting of the Brown, Newlon and FFA Alumni Scholarships. Member who received these scholarships are: Nicole Middaugh, TyAnna Fisher, Jake Baker, Dylan Wright and Maria Fondale.

The seniors then honored their parents and the newly elected 2016-17 FFA officers’ where installed.

The 2016-17 officers include reporter Dakota Brame reporter; Brooke Wiseman, transferor; Jerilyn Kunkler, secretary; Justin Gary, sentinel; Logan Emmert, student adviser; Vice President, Anna Mohler and President, Brittney Wiseman.

The New Lexington FFA and its advisers would like to thank all who attended, donated and help make the banquet a huge success. President Wiseman tapped the gavel and the banquet was concluded.
