Third Grade
Hello! My name is Jeanette Compston and I am so excited for this new school year! I have been teaching 3rd grade since 2015. Before that I taught just down the hallway in 4th grade for several years. I have also taught 6th grade, Music, and much more! This year I have been teaching for 21 years and I am happy to say that I never stop learning. I have four children at home: Lylah, age 19 (in her first year of college), Aliyah, age 18 (in her senior year of high school at NLHS), Emmy, age 13 (in the 8th grade at NLMS), and Bodie, age 10 (in 5th grade at JCE). We stay very busy in our cozy, little home in New Lexington. We spend a lot of time outdoors whether playing baseball, badminton, or having water gun fights. On my own time I love to go to Zumba classes. When I'm alone I love to read! I'm looking forward to learning all about my new class of 3rd graders.

Reading
Accelerated Reader: New goals have been set! Students should be reading for a total of 30 minutes AT HOME each week!
Math
Working on Multiplication strategies: arrays, repeated addition, equal groups, and using number lines.
Practicing our multiplication facts 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, and 5s.
Also working on Bar graphs at this time.
Homework
Homework is sent home on Mondays (or the beginning day of the week). Early on, there will not be a lot of homework, easing students back into the school routine. This week there is a choice board for Spelling. Students need to select and complete 3 of the choices in preparing for the Friday Spelling test. Please help your student choose activities that really help him/her to be ready. I have also assigned 30 minutes of independent reading to be done this week. Your student can choose how to break up that reading. He/She can do all of it in one evening, or spread the 30 minutes out over the week.
